Problem still exists in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the following configuration: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2772] (rev 02)
graphic driver: Intel® 945G x86/MMX/SSE2 I used fix from #24 comment.
