Public bug reported: evince fails to open documents located on overlayfs filesystems (like encrypted home directories). Also tested with an unencrypted overlayfs mount of an ext4 fs. File could be read when accessed directly but not via the overlayfs mount.
The exact same documents open correctly on other filesystems (tested ext4 & tmpfs). Same files can be read just fine on any of the tested filesystems (including overlayfs) with epdfviewer Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 evince: Installed: 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.4 Candidate: 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.4 Version table: *** 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.4.0-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1061966 Title: evince throws EACCES for files on overlayfs filesystems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1061966/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
