If there are MIC failures, it's likely that it's instead a bug in the
kernel driver used. But just to be sure...

Are you on battery when you try to connect? Is the behavior the same if
the power supply is connected (e.g. can you successfully connect then?)
There has been issues in the past coming from power saving modes on
wireless devices, so this is worth testing.
