The "i8042.nomux" kernel option didnt' fix the problem on my Kubuntu Feisty system.
I have to use an alternate suspend2 patched kernel (available at: http://3v1n0.tuxfamily.org/dists/feisty/suspend2/index.html) in order to fix the problem.
