Michael already did all the hard work of figuring out a patch. I reviewed it and suggested he send it upstream, which he did, and got further comments from the upstream maintainer. Michael posted an updated patch to the upstream issue. I think it is worth fixing for Quantal, although IIRC, Michael has a workaround for software-center.
