Laura Czajkowski, using my own Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934 as an example, at ~100 C the PC would turn off due to overheat. One would be entering problem territory >~93 C. Howver, while 86 C is bordering on higher than desired, I've had no problem running it around that in Quantal. I just had to be ready to implement the previously mentioned WORKAROUND.
Just to clarify: + Using the kernels 3.5.0-17 3.2.0-22 3.0.0-15 the fans came on around 86 C and would stop at 71 C? + When you say they fans stop at 71 C, is it that the fans spins lower/unaudible, or it comes to a complete stop? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1063670 Title: [toshiba Z830] [Quantal] Fans no longer working and cooling machine temperature always high To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1063670/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
