@gianluca: Thanks for pointing that out. You're right; switching from
SNA to UXA fixes the problem. I've set the report as affecting the intel
drivers as well.

** Also affects: intel
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: New

** Description changed:

+ NOTE: This is apparently a bug that is in some way related to Intel SNA
+ (Sandy Bridge New Acceleration). See posts #4 and #5. Switching from SNA
+ back to UXA fixes the issue.

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 2 (64-bit) and light-themes 0.1.93 (Ambiance
  theme). Unexpectedly, when some windows lose focus, their title bars
  display improperly -- they turn partly light and partly dark, in a way
  that looks very unpolished. Other windows do not have this problem;
  their title bars remain fully dark. What I expected was that *all* of
  the title bars of *all* windows would display properly (i.e., fully
  dark, as the latter windows do), consistent with the Ambiance theme.

  I've attached images of both the unexpected behavior and the expected
  behavior.
