I was experiencing the same issue with the cx23885 driver not loading with the 3.5.0-17 kernel. I even compiled the latest v4l-dvb modules but to no avail. I downloaded and installed the latest upstream kernel 3.6.2, and the cx23885 driver loaded properly and does work.
