Public bug reported:

This happened after I upgrade to quantal quetzal. Package grub-pc was
not installed and i receive an error when trying to manually update grub
even though grub-install works well:

# update-grub
Gerando grub.cfg ...
cat: /video.lst: Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: erro: Falhou ao obter o caminho canônico de .
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: erro: não foi possível encontrar uma unidade GRUB para . 
Verifique o seu device.map.
