Waiting for the official fix, you may want to know that there is a workaround 
which I'm temporarily using to be able to access internet in Gutsy with my 
Ralink 2500 (I believe this is somewhat similar to post #5 above).
You can find the patch that will allow the RT2500 configuration tool package to 
be used in Gutsy here:

This also contains the "legacy" rt2500 module that can easily be compiled with 
module-assistant.
I'm hoping that this will be uploaded soon to the repositories.
