Artiom Fiodorov, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better.
It appears you installed VMWare before getting the general protection fault. If so, which product and version specifically? If you remove VMWare, do you still get a black screen before logging in? ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Tags added: vmware -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072170 Title: general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP; RIP: 0010:[<ffffffffa042121f>] [<ffffffffa042121f>] HostIF_SafeRDMSR+0xf/0x30 [vmmon] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1072170/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
