Since I'm on an Intel platform, I worked around this by installing the
Intel OpenCL SDK (converted to a .deb using alien) and adding a
"Provides: opencl-icd" line to the control file as described in the post
at http://serverfault.com/a/383958 before installing the package. Since
this is an alien package, I won't need to worry about upgrades breaking
the package. It coexists happily with the NVIDIA OpenCL implementation
from the apt repository.
