After purging the old PPA, and setting up Nick Andrick's PPA, I tried installing the "fglrx-installer" package. However, no such package was available. So I guessed and installed the "fglrx" package. The installation went smoothly, but upon rebooting my system, I don't think Nick's package's driver is in effect. I have no AMD "Unsupported hardware" watermark on my screen, and the output from running "glxinfo" suggests I have no OpenGL functionality.
Next, I uninstalled the "fglrx" package, and installed "fglrx-updates", version 2:9.010-0ubuntu1~andrik5. Upon rebooting, I had the same experience as I got with the "fglrx" package, as described above. On Thu, Nov 1, 2012 at 4:37 PM, Christopher M.
