Public bug reported: MTP is growing in popularity due to the use of it in modern Android devices.
Whilst competing operating systems can handle MTP either out-of-the-box or via third party software, Ubuntu (or indeed, any Linux system) has no way of dealing with it without constant arcane console commands. In the event that these console commands do work, MTP is extremely slow. Considering that Android is practically dominating the smartphone market, and that Ubuntu is also growing in popularity, would it not be wise to include some level of MTP functionality in Ubuntu, as it is practically designed to be user-friendly? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074786 Title: Ubuntu should support MTP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1074786/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
