Public bug reported:

hi

I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.04 after a problem with external usb devices, which
didesolved the problem and left me with no root and more problems...
After using computer janitor and synaptic package manager my update manager no
longer works... and gives me this error message.
Could not initialise the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package
information.

Please report this bug for the 'update-manager' package and try to
include the following error message:

'E:Dynamic MMap ran out of room. Please increase the size of APT::Cache-
Limit. Current value: 25165824. (man 5 apt.conf), E:Error occurred while
processing libtntnet-dev (NewFileDesc2), E:Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu
.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_universe_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package
lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

i have been looking for solutions on the forums but seem to be getting my self
future away form a solution any help would be appreciated
Steve
