on a sidenote http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/brcm80211 claims
that the free driver supports the BCM4330 SDIO chipset (which i think we
use on the nexus7) i did some testing with it before we fell back to the
android driver/firmware from the google kernel but did not manage to get
it to work.

there is a good chance that i missed something while trying to get the
free driver to work though. someone with more wlan expertise should
probably take a second look.
