Not sure, where I read that there is no alternate disk for Lubuntu
12.10. I found the disk image and could install just fine using the
alternate image. Using alternate provides a workaround. Not sure what
are the differences between alternate and live-installer.

Nevertheless the reported issue is valid: 
This is a very common Samsung laptop with Intel Centrino platform and standard 
hard disk. 
Dual-boot with Windows - Nothing special, nothing fancy.
It would be great if Ubiquity could "just work" on this type of hardware.
