I really appreciate your working on this. Unfortunately the computer with the problem is owned by a friend in another town.
I don't often see him and certainly don't want to upset his stability. If no one else can do this then I would consider driving to him and trying the fix. I was just hoping to have it fixed magically during one of the upcoming updates from Ubuntu.
