Public bug reported:

12.10 64bit
Lenovo IdeaPad Z580
i5-3210m

Attempting to suspend: By pressing the power button I'm prompted with
options to Suspend, Restart, Cancel, Shutdown. All buttons work
appropriately except for "Suspend". When clicking "Suspend" the dialogue
box closes with no action following.

This used to work when running 12.04 before upgrading to final stable
release of 12.10.

Selecting "Suspend" from the System dropdown (top right "cog" icon) does
work however.
