I'm affected by the same problems. Beside that, I've tried to run Calc first, and then open a file. When browsing /var/run/user/USERNAME/gvfs/smb-share:server=SERVERNAME,share=SHARENAME and each subdir, the file picker dialog box doesn't list any file and the mouse pointer turns to an endless loading loop.
