Hello and many thanks for your reply! Installing Ubuntu - now 12.10 64bits - I've learned many things:
Never defrag the WUBI.EXE-drive under Windoze, or the INSTALL will be lost ... If that has happened: Never try to install Ubuntu next to Win7 then, because the GRUB install will fail ... So I finally saved all my data off from Win7 install and now I have Ubuntu 12.10 64bits installed ALONE on my Lenovo AMD 64bits ... Doing that, I've learned: Never install all the extensions the Ubuntu Software Center offers, if you don't know, what they are good for ... or you will ruin your installation ... As you can see, I am using ClawsMail for mailing, having had used Courier/Calypso under Windoze in PLAIN TEXT always, so I do not miss any HTML feature ... So far, I am happy with my Ubuntu now, since it enables recording of any sound, which I can hear on my machine (was DISabled under Win7, only recording from mic was possible), so after precisely 30 years of using Microsoft OS's and other software, I am happy to have made that step away from MS, which never cared for a downward compatibility all those 30 years. Peter Norton taught me to use DOS and WINDOWS and now I'll try to make the Linux family known to me! Thank you again!
