I am still using Dapper on my laptop (in order to provide Long Term
Support. to Dapper users). As I said in my original report, I worked
around the bug by reinstalling from scratch with the "Desktop" iso.
So, I have no idea whether the bug persisted or not. BTW, Did I
REALLY write "/etc/networking//xorg.conf" instead of
/etc/X11/xorg.conf? That (plus the fact that I didn't include the
material from /var/log/xorg.0.log) probably explains why no one looked
at the problem until now. Unfortunately, at the time, I had no idea
that other people would have the same problem.
