Public bug reported:

When I wanted to update my box today, I came across the following
somewhat strange behavior of apt-get:

<cut>
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages will be upgraded:
  gimp gimp-data ktorrent kvirc kvirc-data libgimp2.0 update-manager-core
7 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 15.0MB of archives.
After unpacking 442kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y
Abort.
</cut>

A further "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" proceeded without failure, so this
problem is non-deterministic. Since a repeat of the command leads to the
desired outcome, I would not rate this problem as important or even
critical; still, it is a nuisance if it happens and might confuse
especially new converts.

** Affects: apt (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
