Public bug reported:

I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 12.10 from DVD. After booting, grub
surfaced an error message "file not found", and a "rescue" prompt. I
googled for a fix, and ran boot-repair per instructions here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/187862/after-update-get-error-file-not-
found-followed-by-grub-rescue

I do have four hard drives, and it looks a lot like the installer put
the boot config somewhere that grub did not expect it to be. However, if
boot-repair can fix it, the installer should be smarter out of the box
and ensure that boot is possible.
