I have installed and tested the v3.7 kernel as requested.

Unfortunately the v3.7 kernel does not fix the problem and it makes
Unity fail to load.

With no additional kernel command line parameters Ubuntu boots, but when
it gets to the point where the Unity login screen should appear all I
get is a blank orange screen, no cursor and no mouse pointer and from
here I can only power the machine off by holding down the power button
for 5 seconds. If I add the nomodeset kernel command line parameter then
Ubuntu boots and drops to a terminal session where I can log in, but not
start the X-server (it reports no screens present).

I'm not sure where I should be adding the 'kernel-unable-to-test-
upstream' tag. Please advise (I have never raised an Ubuntu bug report
before).

Regards, Dave.
