Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd:
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10

xubuntu-desktop:
  Installed: 2.162
  Candidate: 2.162
  Version table:
 *** 2.162 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I installed things like Gwibber, and Shotwell, and they all depend on
the "Online Accounts" functions of Unity in order to sign on to online
services like Facebook and Twitter. In Xubuntu, when installing and
launching these packages, there is no way to add any online accounts,
because the required sections for Online Accounts are not present.
Gnome Control Center got pulled in, but the Online Accounds applet is
missing from within. Also, pulling in these apps pulled in a few Gnome
dependencies, which killed xfce4-power-manager. (Now my battery icon is
missing on the laptop and sleep functions don't work). Launching it
manually states there is already another power management app running.
