Public bug reported: It has been already reported that USB-creator is broken on 12.10, with USB images not being bootable. However, I also use this tool for quickly formatting my USB pen drive before using unetbootin. However, doing so results in a weird error message popping up and a 100% CPU hang coming from udisks (see attached screenshots). In the meantime, USB-creator stays stuck on "Erasing" indefinitely and I have to manually kill the udisks-helper-* job in order to get full control on my machine back.
This is a serious issue. Together with the non-bootable Live-USB, it makes this tool completely useless on my machine. From a user perspective, It does not feel very serious for a Ubuntu-branded app (cf. app icon). machine: Dell Latitude E6420 system: Ubuntu 12.10 amd64 package: usb-creator-gtk 0.2.40ubuntu1 ** Affects: usb-creator (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1090663 Title: erase disk results in error message + 100% CPU hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1090663/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
