Public bug reported: I created a bootable USB stick on my host. Then I tried to boot it inside one of my VMs using virt-manager.
What happened: 1) There is no easy way to select a USB disk in the boot order from Boot Options 2) In Boot Options, enabling "Enable Boot menu" makes it possible to press F12 and this should give easy access to a connected hosts USB device. Unfortunately the device does not show up in this menu (see attached). What was expected: -Boot options should show the USB device -F12 should show the USB device Slightly related to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812134 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: virt-manager 0.9.3-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-17.28-generic 3.5.5 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu9 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Dec 19 05:41:56 2012 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-12-06 (13 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Release amd64 (20121017.5) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: virt-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: virt-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug quantal running-unity ** Attachment added: "virt_bootmenu.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1092058/+attachment/3463810/+files/virt_bootmenu.png ** Also affects: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1092058 Title: VM boots from Hard Disk instead of USB host device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/1092058/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
