Public bug reported: Hi,
a few months ago a software update was available like every few days. A kernel update was included. But when I rebooted my laptop, WLAN didn't work anymore. The only way to continue using it I figured out is to use linux-image- extra-3.5.0-17-generic or older (linux-image-extra-3.5.0-16-generic, linux-image-extra-3.5.0-15-generic, you know what I mean). So the problem starts with linux-image-extra-3.5.0-18-generic and isn't solved so far (linux-image-3.5.0-21-generic). First I thought it will be detected by someone else, but because it's now existing for 4 updates I know I have to report it. I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit: $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.10 Release: 12.10 My network modules: $ lspci |grep -i net 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LC Gigabit Network Connection (rev 05) 45:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01) I'm using a proprietary driver for it (the only option excepting not to use it). This is what the graphical interface for additional drivers says: Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source von¹ bcmwl-kernel-source werden verwendet (Proprietär)² ¹ "von": German for "from" ² "werden verwendet (Proprietär)": German for "are used (proprietary)" Connecting the laptop to the internet using a lan cable works, but then there is no fix (like a new driver (i ran apt-get update)) available. Connecting it to the internet using WLAN works with kernel linux-image- extra-3.5.0-17-generic or older. ** Affects: at-spi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1093154 Title: WLAN doesn't work anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi/+bug/1093154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
