How can I provide further details ?

I made an hardware change (Mboard, ram, cpu,) but it was 1 week before
this happened, and when I made the change Ubuntu didn't complain, unlike
windows 7 that required some registry changes to avoid crashing on boot.

I formatted using a Ubuntu image I made with clonezilla and the issue
repeated after a few reboots, I see my desktop, skype and steam starting
up for a few seconds and then suddenly, puff it goes to the login screen
and asks for a password, my password doesn't work anymore.

Even after going into recovery mode and changing the password it doesn't
accept it.

Anyway now I've made a fresh install and so far the issue hasn't
repeated.
