I am having the same problem on my HP Envy dv6-7210us running Ubuntu 12.10 with kernel Linux 3.5.0-21-generic, with Bus 002 Device 003: ID 138a:0018 Validity Sensors, Inc. I sure hope all of this can get resolved soon.
