I got around the problem by replacing the defective efix binary: - Downloaded the efax source from http://www.cce.com/efax/download/ - tar -xzf efax-0.9a-001114.tar.gz - cd efax-0.9a-001114 - make - sudo cp efix /usr/bin/efix
