After installation of Ubuntu 12.04 (from scratch; no upgrade) I
configured Mobile Broadband.

Result:
Wired and Wireless networks are listed, but no Mobile Broadband.

sakis3g works without problems.

I have repeated some of my previous steps to investigate this problem.

It seems somthing reconfigured the system - maybe set vendor id ?
Now the modem is recognized and entries in section Mobile Broadband is listed.
The change is persistent = survis reboot => Now the modem is detected and
I can use nm to connect => problem solved
