The BIOS upgrade from R4060Y0 to R4070Y0 added an additional configuration feature: Advanced >> Intel (R) Virtualization Technology "When enabled, a VVM can utilize the additional hardware capabilities provided by Intel (R) Virtualization Technology"
Following the upgrade this feature was disabled by default. Because it was a new feature, it seemed it might be useful to test. However, the instability with suspend/resume in Precise occured both when then feature was enabled or disabled, and thus seemed to have no bearing on the problem. And most probably the BIOS version actually may have no bearing on the problem either. As such, I have now left the feature disabled. Otherwise, I still have not been able to find anything more definite that relates to the cause other than the move from 3.2.0-31-generic to 3.2.0-32-generic under Precise. However, as stated above Quantal with the standard Ubuntu kernel 3.5.0-21-generic does not suffer from this same problem (suspend/resume is stable, as it was with 3.2.0-31-generic in Precise). The one consistent behaviour following an unstable resume is that the syslogs do not get updated with details that occur after suspend. This happens even if the system is partially useable for a short period after the resume. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066467 Title: Suspend/Resume regression from 3.2.0-31 to 3.2.0-32 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
