Am for the moment marking above mentioned bug as dupe here based on a rebuild of current eglibc source (reverted debian local-pthread_cond_wait patches, applied upstream diff, ect.) With the redone libc6 package installed don't see any hangs in totem nor system hangs when closing windows in gnome-shell, reverting back to current package(s) & the hangs come right back.
