Public bug reported:

python-gi-dev depends on python-gi; it should also depend on python3-gi.

I found this bug because it broke the gedit 3.7.4 build:
checking for PYTHON... yes
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named 'gi'

While looking at debian/control.in I have to admit I'm confused by what this is
for:
         python-gi (>= ${source:Version}),
         python-gi (<< ${source:Version}.1~),
