(In reply to Jens Martin Schlatter from comment #3) Seems that you misunderstood the meaning of the checkbox. The checkbox in the calendar list toggles only the display of events and tasks. The calendar is still active and fully operable. To deactivate a calendar use the Switch Off checkbox in the calendar properties dialog.
