Christopher (penalvch), thanks for your reply. If I upgrade via Windows 8 (I have dualboot Ubuntu 12.10/Win 8 preinstalled) it will damage the UEFI/Bios settings that I have? I'm afraid of bricking or damaging uefi settings for ubuntu dual boot.
The problem is partially fixed with "acpi_osi=" mode but without unity notifications when changing the brightness. Is there a way to enable notification for this operation?
