As you can't access 12.10, you don't need to install the new kernel in 12.10. 
Please install it in your 12.04.
For information, your Ubuntu systems are 32bit, so you need to install the 
*i386.deb, not the *amd64.deb

@Joseph:
are 2 debs enough? i thought he needs to install 4 packages (the three 
*i386.deb  +  the *_all.deb)
