Thank you, Christopher, for looking into this. I updated my BIOS to the current version (A12), but it did not fix the problem. For kernels 3.2.0.36, 3.2.0.35, 3.2.0.34, or 3.2.0.33 the system does not appear to start. The screen is blank, although it sounds like the fan is working pretty hard. Note that everything works great with earlier kernels (e.g. 3.2.0.32).
