Hello Chris,

I did not update the BIOS still at F.26

I downloaded raring-desktop-amd64.iso dated 2013January21. The
installation went fine but hanged after the screen asking whether user
want to Download updates while installing and whether user wants to
Install third party software. I did not realised until after 2.5hours.
ADSL internet lights was not blinking indicated no data transfer over
internet and harddisk light not blinking indicating no harddisk read or
write activities.

Next I downloaded raring-desktop-amd64.iso dated 2013January23. The
same sequence of events happened as described above for raring-desktop-
amd64.iso dated 2013January21. I shut down the whole system after
20minutes.

In the end, the harddisk that I plugged in was previously used to
install Fedora 18 for testing purposes. I used ubuntu-12.04-server-
amd64.iso to install onto this harddisk as the purpose is to re-
partition and re-format the harddisk into ubuntu standard. I re-
inserted in raring-desktop-amd64.iso dated 2013January23 and able to
complete the whole installation process. I reboot the whole system 10
times and no problem was found.

Great Job! Chris! Well done!

In Windows 7 OS, I run HP Support Assistant and it did not indicate my
notebook needs to update any BIOS. I will check with HP service centre
on why it did not prompt me to update BIOS from F.26 to F.29 . If
there is no problem in updating the BIOS, I will update you again
whether any problems or not exist for raring-desktop-amd64.iso dated
2013January23.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Regards,
TH Tan
