On Precise (I've been playing around with a LiveCD), setting reveal location to top left corner and setting reveal sensitivity to highest, is almost like in Natty but it is nowhere near as responsive. It requires pushing into the corner for a split-second, _then_ it starts the slide-in animation. If the mouse is in pixel (0,0) it doesn't do anything; it actually requires a push which doesn't seem to work for me over VNC.
In Natty, the animation (I use fade only in CCSM) happens as the mouse moves across the Dash Home button, making it as responsive as the user wants. The faster the mouse moves, the quicker the animation. It just makes so much sense, and it has a nice feel as it kind of 'clicks' into the corner. Natty also worked fine over VNC and was also usable on a touchscreen such as a SmartBoard or the Wacom screen on my ThinkPad X60 Tablet due to the Dash Home button on the panel/menubar. Having a good look round the LiveCD, I think there are too many downhill changes to Ubuntu for me to ever like it as much as Natty; there are a few new features that I like but they don't outweigh the negatives, and I'm very disappointed that there are no options for previously default or widely-used features and behaviour. But my Natty repos are out-of-date and barely updated anymore, so I need to upgrade. I've thought about trying to get Natty Unity running on Precise or Quantal, but it'd probably be more work than it's worth and it'd just break all the time. So I need to go 'distro shopping' and find something that makes more sense I think. It's not just this issue that's pissed me off, it's this and many other issues in Ubuntu over the last couple of years. Regressions that were so blatantly not accidental, and no care when people don't like them. The "won't fix" attitude is not one that I want to stay around for. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/849482 Title: Instant launcher reveal from top-left corner doesn't work in oneiric To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/849482/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
