This bug affects me in Ubuntu 12.10 64bit with Gnome Shell.

I am letting MatLab (numerical computing environment) read 'large'
quantities (80 at the moment) of image files of 2MB each. I use the
/run/user/$user/gvfs/... as directory to access. When experimenting I
have also tried letting the MatLab script sleep for 10 seconds in
between reading every image file, but to no avail. Maybe the bug is not
time-related?

Somewhere in the process of reading the files the MatLab script just
freezes and then it does not even react to the abort command Ctrl+C.
After trying to kill the MatLab process using System Monitor or by
running the kill command in terminal, the process becomes a Zombie
process which I cannot kill.

The same happens when copying the files with PC Man FM file manager or
copying using the terminal. I have tried both on a wireless and a wired
network connection.

I hope this information is somehow helpful.
