There was no issue prior to Ubuntu 12.10 shipped with 3.5 kernel. Come to think of it, I am not quite sure the kernel itself is a problem, as devices are properly recognized and are connected as per attached kernel.log
Furthermore, the kernel makes devices visible in "Devices" application, and those can be mounted from there. Can very well be udev or Gnome issue.
