Public bug reported:

The system kind of "freezes" randomly (opening Unity Dash, browsing with
Firefox, opening LibreOffice). Moving the mouse or using keyboard
shortcuts that result in a graphical reaction don't produce an immediate
result but eventually an result at a later time (sometimes up to 5 or
more minutes later). Sometimes there is also problems with the graphical
output (parts of the screen become black). To get out of this "freeze"
it helps to switch to a console (ctrl+alt+f1) which works almost
immediately (sometimes takes a few seconds but faster than anything
else), then switch back using ctrl+alt+f7. The system works as expected
again.

This is on an Acer Aspire 4935G with NVIDIA graphics (proprietary
driver).
