same experience using a 11.10 system, Lenovo laptop, in-built camera. Attached from top shows how cheese INITIALLY takes near 100% of the CPU (Celeron 900 @ 2.2GHz), then 'not much' whilst near all the free RAM (system has 1GByte) AND swap space is consumed by cheese.
No other applications running; tested was initiated on a newly booted system. Skype + VLC + guvcview all 'seem to work fine'. System becomes un-responsive (due to it thrashing the disk) until a run- away process killer kills cheese & recovers the memory + swap space. ** Attachment added: "CPU & memory utilization of cheese (reported by top)." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/945678/+attachment/3534870/+files/cheese.lst -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945678 Title: libgstreamer0.10-0 - cheese does not open and has memory leak.
