i was able to get dlm working by install linux-image-extra-virtual
inside a linode (xen) environment. unfortunately, this caused my boot
up to fail approximately 50% of the time. i was unable to discover the
exact cause, but believe it was because the boot image because MUCH
larger, and there was some sort of corruption issue loading this.

I do believe dlm should be available because of its use in cman for
cluster services, which a lot of linux virtual machines provide services
this way.
