What a small world, I'm also trying to install 12.10 on a Precision 390 and the same thing happens to me. It seems that Marc H do you have an idea why disabling the sound permitted this workaround? Did you manage to activate it again after installation was done? I see that it was with the 64b version, is it probable that the issue woulnd't appear with the 32b?
