I am using Toshiba L650 X5310 laptop and noticed that its not detecting battery and hence hibernate function is not available and its not able to show the battery status. I searched and found that a lot of people are experiencing the same problem, since this needs a kernel level fix, no resolutions/wordarounds are posted anywhere. I have tried many Ubuntu versions (old and new) and all of them posses the same issue. I have even tried several other distros(Centos/Mandriva/OpenSuse) but results were the same.
