Hello Vadim - Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. eCryptfs is not what is used to encrypt your swap, so I'm marking this bug as invalid.
If you have encrypted swap, dm-crypt is used to encrypt that partition since eCryptfs is not able to do block-level encryption. I've never seen my swap partition fail to mount, so I'm not sure what could be happening there. Encrypted swap does certainly require more processing power than unencrypted swap, but I've also not experienced the grind-to-a-halt behaviour that you're experiencing. There's really not enough information in this bug report for a developer to act on this issue. If you can provide more information on your hardware specs and potential ways to reproduce the issue, please file a new bug report. Thanks! ** Changed in: ecryptfs-utils (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934498 Title: Having no swap locks up laptop with IO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/934498/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
